Dr Roderick Lamont
Veterinarian
I graduated from the University of Queensland in 1996 and worked in Dubbo and Narromine in a progressive mixed practice that also provided an equine referral service and surgery. From there I spent 2 years in south-east South Australia where I focussed largely on livestock and horses. (Great wine down there but too cold!). Next on the agenda were adventures in South America and some locum work in the UK. I moved here in 2001 with my wife Karin and shortly afterwards we started our family and I'm still trying to keep up with the kids and their activities. Over the last few years this has included skiing, mountain biking, surfing, rogaining, 4WD adventures throughout Australia and some more local exploring and camping. My particular interests in the equine field are dentistry, repro and foal medicine. While ultrasound (especially cardiology), and surgery- soft tissue and orthopaedics are the areas of small animal vet work I like to focus on.

Dr Karin Woldring
Veterinarian
Having completed a year of Ag Science, I transferred to Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland and graduated in 1993. My first job was mixed practice based in Woodford in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and was a great way to start out. From there I headed off for the first of 3 stints in the UK (of which the island of Jersey was the standout location). Back in Australia I worked in Western NSW and South Australia before moving up here in 2001. As a family we have settled in and love the area and all it has to offer. I enjoy working with such a wide range of animals which I usually work on a Monday and Tuesday in the Macksville Clinic.

Dr Peter Richardson
Veterinarian
I grew up on a small hobby farm in North-West Tasmania and went on to study Zoology at uni in Hobart. From there I took the long route to decide to study vet but the desire to work with animals got the best of me and I graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Melbourne (please don't hold that against me). I then landed a job at a mixed practice on the outskirts of Geelong with supplemental work at a nearby animal emergency centre. My partner and I visited the Mid North Coast on holiday in 2017 and loved it so much that we decided we wanted to live here. Eventually the opportunity arose and at the start of 2022 we moved here with our dog Bunji. I'm still acclimatising.
I enjoy mixed practice because of the diversity of animals and variety of cases. My specific interests lie in surgery, ultrasound and ruminants. In my spare time I enjoy surfing, swimming, running (particularly trail running) and generally getting outdoors as much as possible.

Dr Karen Thompson
Veterinarian
I graduated from Murdoch University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, then soon after furthered my qualifications with a Certificate in Veterinary Acupuncture.
My career has taken me from Darwin to the UK then back to Australia working in Victoria and NSW. Settling in the Mid North Coast in 2006 to raise a family I joined the Midcoast Vets team in 2012. My Veterinary work over the years has focused mainly around medicine and surgery for dogs, cats and anything smaller, with Veterinary Acupuncture, Physiotherapy, Reiki and Chinese Herbs being fantastic adjuncts to western medicines. I have a strong interest in resolving skin diseases, maintaining good pet dental care and providing education and support for clients. I take pride in being able to offer a high standard of patient and client care.
In my free time I will be found chasing children and enjoying the outdoors.

Dr Joel Morrison
Veterinarian
I grew up on a hobby/cattle agistment farm near Cambridge, NZ where my love of the great outdoors and working with animals took off. My father was (and still is) a Veterinarian would take me along to weekend jobs where I often had to roll up my sleeves and get dirty.
I moved to Sydney in 2011 and completed my Veterinary degree and then landed my first job on the NSW Mid North Coast. I started work with Midcoast Vets in 2018 and then after 2 years took some time off to travel and Locum around Australia. Now I'm back after confirming that there's nowhere else I would rather be.
I enjoy the everyday variety of being a rural Vet. I find working with the large production animals very rewarding, and on the other hand I have undertaken further training in small animal medicine. Variety keeps me on my toes!
Outside of work I love playing touch footy and chasing adrenaline on anything with two wheels, in the surf or snow.

Dr Alex Haysman
Veterinarian
I grew up in Adelaide and started my studies in engineering and finance and then made a career change to Veterinary Science. During my studies I also spent a number of years working in the wine industry in the Barossa Valley.
After road tripping to the NSW Mid North Coast in 2022 my partner and I decided to relocate to the area as we loved the lifestyle and the weather. So, after finishing my degree in 2022 I joined the Midcoast Vets team.
I really enjoy working with cattle and farmers as well as small animal surgery and anaesthesia.
During my veterinary degree I was also lucky to gain experience working in South Africa helping relocate animals, on abalone and oyster farms in Port Lincoln, and at a sea Turtle sanctuary in Cairns.
When I am not working, I like to spend my days cooking and enjoying good quality wines, gardening, visiting farmers' markets and exploring the local national parks and beaches.

Dr Jess Hancock
Veterinarian
I'm an Adelaide girl who decided from a young age that working with animals in any capacity was the goal. Fortunately, I was accepted into the Veterinary degree at The University of Adelaide and finished in 2022, loving every moment. During my studies, I was either wine tasting close by in the Barossa region or doing watersports at our much-loved family shack on the Murray River.
My partner (Dr Alex Haysman) and I both road tripped to the NSW Mid North Coast in 2022 for university placement and loved the lifestyle on offer. Initially starting further south for work, I have since joined the Midcoast Vets team and am thoroughly enjoying the people and the work. I love working with the variety that mixed practice offers, never knowing what I'll see at work each day.
When I am not working, I like to spend my days tinkering in the veggie patch, out finding a new beach to explore or pottering around a market!

Dr Ben Martin
Veterinarian
I grew up north of Brisbane and went on many family road trips around Australia as a youngster. Seeing wildlife, doing farm stays, bushwalks and other activities like snorkelling fostered my deep appreciation and love of all animals. Picking our family dogs up from the kennels after trips away was always a highlight as well.
I graduated from UQ Gatton in 2023. During this time, I also completed my Divemaster and worked as a dive professional on boats running out of Port Douglas and Cairns. I also have a passion for helping student vets and ran multiple events for veterinary mental health at university.
I am excited to be part of the amazing team at Midcoast Vets and enjoy being part of the community on the Mid North Coast. I find farm work especially rewarding, as well as dealing with interesting medical cases and wildlife in the clinic.

Dr Fabian Yunda
Veterinarian
Hailing from the lofty heights of Bogotá, Colombia, I graduated as a vet in 2017 and took my talents global - practising in Colombia, Brazil, and Australia, completing the national veterinary examination for overseas vets last year. I like to think of myself as a mixed animal vet in training to be the next James Herriot, minus the tweed and with better dance moves.
I am fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, and my areas of interest are surgery and diagnostic imaging.
In my spare time, you’ll find me conquering mountains, exploring new destinations, or hitting the gym. When it comes to food, I’m on a lifelong quest to try everything from street tacos to gourmet dining. Basically, I’m living proof that you can be both an animal saviour and a culinary adventurer!

Alli
Veterinary Nurse
From a very young age I have always known I wanted to care for animals as part of my career. I grew up on a farm in Eungai and spent most of my out of school hours exploring with my dog Dixie and caring for my chickens.
In 2008 I obtained my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. During my early educating years I spent some of my time volunteering at Macksville Vets and in other animal care establishments such as the Sydney Aquarium and Wildlife centre. Since graduating as a vet nurse I have been working in a small animal practice on the Mid North Coast for 14 years.
I am now enjoying working at Midcoast Vets and love the challenge of working in a mixed practice and working with the experienced Midcoast Vets team.
I love all things veterinary. One of my greatest passions is caring for animals, supporting their owners and providing the best animal related education to our clients and the wider public.
Outside of work I love adventuring with my friends and family, caring for my new generation of chickens, walking up the v-wall and admiring the rock art with my two small children, testing my body's limits with aerial sports and sharing a cheeky adult bevy on weekends with my partner in crime.

Millie
Veterinary Nurse
Midcoast vets has been my ‘home’ since 2015 after completing my vet nursing certificate in 2014 fresh out of high school. Becoming a vet nurse was my dream. I was lucky enough to be offered a job where I am able to grow and develop not only my general nursing skills but also in areas that I am passionate about. My passion for dog training and behaviour has developed over the years while running Puppy Preschool.
Since I started teaching puppy preschool I have completed a number of courses and attended conferences on puppy behaviour and teaching puppy preschool. I am currently completing my Cert IV in Animal Behaviour where once completed I will be a qualified animal trainer.
Over the next few years you will see me grow and develop my knowledge on dog behaviour and broaden my skills.
In my spare time you'll find me prepping for puppy preschool classes, running my side hustle 4Paws Playschool, studying, or on the rare occasion exploring with my two 4 legged rat bags and husband.

Robyn
Veterinary Nurse
Originally from Tamworth I have working as a veterinary nurse at the Macksville clinic for over 25 years. In addition to veterinary nursing, over the last 10 years I have been working with Open Colleges and TAFE teaching and assessing students in the area of Animal Studies and Veterinary Nursing. I enjoy teaching as it gives me the opportunity to encourage students to develop an understanding of what a privilege and rewarding career Veterinary Nursing can be.
In my spare time I enjoys the coastal life, spending time at the beach with my two beautiful Border Collies, Maddy and Nikita.
I also enjoy competing in agility with my dogs which keeps us all very fit and engaged.

Sallie
Veterinary Nurse
I have worked in the animal industry for over 15 years, in vet clinics, pet shops and kennels. I have been working as a veterinary nurse since 2014 when I completed my Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing. Week days you will find me helping animals medically and on weekends I am helping customers at a local pet store.
I love all things animals. From helping choose the right parasite prevention for your new puppy, to helping nurse pets back to health. I have an interest in emergency and critical care, rabbit anaesthesia, pet dentistry and client education.
Being a vet nurse and working with animals has always been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. I grew up with a menagerie of small animals including birds, fish, rabbits and dogs. I am currently known as the bunny/dachshund lady. I own 4 Netherland dwarf rabbits and 4 Dachshunds.
On my days off you will find me spending time with my furry babies, watching whales on the headlands and spending time with friends.
My favourite part of working with Midcoast Vets is the experience of working with such a knowledgeable and capable team. This allows me to broaden my knowledge and become the best possible vet nurse I can be.

Tegan
Veterinary Nurse
I am a small town country girl that grew up in Casino sharing the love of horses with my uncles. Thoroughbreds and horse racing were always a part of my growing up and family life. Following my passion for animals I began my studies in Lismore before completing them at Coffs Harbour. My family and I (partner & 4 kids) now call Macksville ''home". We live in this beautiful area on a family operated Angus Beef farm. I have a special interest in farm animals but equally enjoy providing care for all species. I enjoy meeting new people, furthering my knowledge with animals and the daily challenges nursing offers. I love that no two days are the same. My hobbies (when I get the time) include hanging by the water, holidaying, strolling the markets, cooking and wining and dining with friends and family.

Brodie
Veterinary Nurse
After completing my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, I went off and worked in real estate for a short time. But I soon realised that my true passion was working with animals, so I joined the Midcoast Vets team.
I enjoy all aspects of vet nursing, including large animals. I’m very grateful for the experience and knowledge I gain each day from my colleagues.
I have always had a love for animals and now have a few pets of my own. When not at work, you will find me either hanging with my horse, at the beach with my dog Isla or enjoying a cocktail and music with my partner and friends.

Brodie
Veterinary Nurse
I grew up and have lived on the Mid-North Coast most of my life. I have always been around animals, from dogs and cats to exotic animals, such as rabbits, birds, fish and reptiles.
I started working in a Veterinary Clinic in early 2022 and, shortly after, began my studies for Veterinary Nursing. I graduated in 2024 and now have my Registration in Veterinary Nursing. I love all things veterinary medicine. However, my particular interests involve rural mixed practice as well as emergency and critical care.
In my spare time, I love to get out and go for long weekend camping trips on my motorcycle and in the summer you'll also find me snorkelling in freshwater holes or in the ocean.

I grew up in the Nambucca Valley on my family property. I’ve always had a love for animals and a passion for caring for them. Before joining the Midcoast Vets team, I got my start in the animal industry as a dog groomer. I am currently studying for a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing to further my education.
My interests are camping, taking my dogs to the beach and hanging out with family around a fire and having a few drinks.

Jodie Ainsworth
Clinic Manager
My 35 years admin experience has been across a range of industries including medical, but the veterinary world is a whole new ball game with a lot to learn, but I'm totally enjoying the challenge and this old dog is still learning new tricks. It is a privilege to witness, on a daily basis, just what these wonderful professionals do and no two days are the same, which I love! I see my role as clinic coordinator, to be one of support for them, so that they can get on with treating your animals which is what they do best! Oh and I do have the best office view (see pic) of the Nambucca River.
My favourite things outside of work (re-ordered since the birth of my 1st grandchild)
1. Spending time with my grandchild
2. Husband, dogs & adult children come in at a very close second
3. Creating .... anything crafty, I'm in!
4. Gardening & audio books (often at the same time)
5. Exploring as many varieties of 'grapes' as possible with as many types of cheese as possible, with all my favourite people around me.

Nicky Smith
Practice Manager
I joined Midcoast Vets in 2017 which was a big career change for me. All my working life I worked for state governments in the area of environmental management. Weary from working with government and the unavoidable intervening politics, I welcomed a radical change in career direction. Joining Midcoast Vets has been a great move, a refreshing and challenging change.
Animals have been an important part of my life with one or two dogs always by my side. Being a practice manager has enabled me to marry my management skills and my love for animals. In my job I am so privileged to work alongside a bunch of amazing nurses and vets who work tirelessly to ensure our patients receive the best healthcare.
When I am not at work I enjoy bushwalking and camping, hanging at the beach, spending time with my family and dogs, reading books and gardening.
