Across our clinics we are well-equipped and see a diverse range on animals and cases.  Our Urunga and Macksville clinics are purpose built, and our team regularly performs complex surgeries, orthopaedics procedures and large animal work. Our Macksville clinic is also home to a CT scanner attracting referral cases from far and wide.

Located between Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour, our clinics are set in one of Australia's most desirable locations. The area offers unspoiled beaches, waterways, hinterland forests with pristine rivers, and national parks, while still being close to essential services including hospitals, schools, universities, shopping centres and airports.

 

About the Role

The successful candidate will be working based at our Urunga clinic but will work across all three clinics. in both hospital and surgery roles. We are open 8.30am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. There is no required afterhours for this position.

In this role you will be involved in a wide range of duties including 

  • Assisting with surgical inductions and monitoring of anaesthetics including IV catheter placement, intubation, preparation for surgery and post operative care.
  • Supporting vets with examinations, consultations and medical procedures.
  • Performing diagnostic testing including blood work and cytology.
  • Assisting with radiographs and ultrasounds (including small animal dental radiographs).
  • Assisting with large animal dentals and surgeries.
  • Providing nurse consultations.
  • Delivering personalised and high quality care to our patients and their owners, including advice on preventative care, nutrition and treatments.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and infection control throughout the clinic. 

About You

The successful candidate will have 

  • a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
  • The ability to provide the highest level of patient and client care.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A positive energetic can do attitude.
  • The ability to multitask, take initiative, problem solve and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Competent computer skills, ability to learn new software, and maintain accurate records.
  • Well-developed emotional maturity including the ability to handle emotional situations including grief, stress and difficult or demanding client interactions.
  • The ability to work as part of a team and provide support to work colleagues.
  • A strong work ethic with a commitment to ongoing learning and improvement.
  • The ability to stay calm, think clearly and maintain a positive approach during busy times and veterinary emergencies.
  • A genuine passion for animals and a commitment to caring for our patients and clients.
  • The ability to follow policies, protocols and procedures.
